Calling All SEO’s! You ARE The Judge and the Jury

One of my peers.. yes i said, "peer"

"a person who is equal to another in abilities, qualifications, age, background, and social status."

plus.. she does things like baking HUNDREDS or cookies for an entire conference on a dare.

anyways... she wrote this in quote below recently in one of her comments, on a Marketing Pilgrim Blog post, (also below) and since SEO began, I have tried to find the best explanation of why what I know is worth BILLIONS of dollars.... and her quote inspired me.

Businesses are JUST, yes, JUST!!!! now beginning to figure out that there is this thing called Public Data, that Public Data, now as never before is being combined with data that is unverified, incorrect, DELAYED, DELETED, sometimes, even CANCELLED. Cancelled data? The DATA that you left on MySpace when you deleted the account, old friendster emails, old yahoo messenger chats, facebook messages, aol emails and chats. And there is all this new data with Quora and tumblr, and..
over 550 popular social networks that KnowEm checks your identity on. what's KnowEm?
KnowEm allows you to check for the use of your brand, product, personal name or username instantly on over 550 popular and emerging social media websites. Grab your name and secure your brand before someone else does. 550 social networks....that people are stealing your name or your brand name.. posting links to porn, scams, spam.. YOU.. really have no idea what the problem really is...

Anyone remember this?

That's not # SEO.. that's called..

There are people that are making money searching on YOUR COMPANY NAME, YOUR BRANDS, YOUR PRODUCTS.

more to come later... on SEO, search, social media and online reputation management,,,
doing some data modeling that i need to finish.

actually had to sleep for 16 hours straight.. lol

here is the quote,

"Google does not freely publish the specific criteria included their ranking algorithms. To do so would be idiotic, as the webmasters who would most benefit from knowing that information are those whose intent is to maliciously manipulate the search results."

in this article..
Here’s what we are proposing for you, our expert SEO readers, to consider. Rather than let lawyers and just one search engine expert (Danny Sullivan is the only industry voice in the article) determine whether these sites have anything to complain about, we wondered if our experts, our readers, would make the case for or against ShopPaloAlto.com and the over 8,100 sites that are just like in this network. Here’s what we would like you to do:

Google Retail Blog : Online to Store Testing with Google: Redefining Online Impact

There are lots of reasons shoppers research purchases online and then buy at a brick and mortar. What’s important for retailers to recognize, however, is that having an online presence is becoming more and more important to overall sales.

According to an Ipsos study, 93% of sales occur offline. However, 80% of consumers research a product online before purchasing in-store. This illustrates the value consumers place on the Internet as a trusted research resource for their purchases.

As consumers increasingly shop across multiple channels, retailers must shift their thinking around ROI to properly account for how and where consumers shop.

Google’s online to store experiments can help retailers better understand the impact their online marketing dollars are having on in-store sales. We use a test vs. control methodology to measure this impact.

Madden 12 Online Communities

Madden NFL Online the Way You Want It
At its core, Communities is similar to clans in a first person shooter. Madden NFL 12 will allow you and up to 2000 other like-minded gamers to create or join a Community where you can play head-to-head games against each other. All games will be ranked on your Community Leaderboard, individual stats will all be tracked and ranked, and recent game results will be displayed for your entire Community to see. What makes Communities different is that the creator of the Community will be able to create Community “house rules”. Every single game option and slider in Madden NFL 12 will be editable and will apply to all head-to-head games within your Community. If you want to create a sim-football Community that plays 15 minute quarters on All-Madden with no accelerated clock, go for it. If you work long hours like myself and just want to play quick games with your brother across the country you can set your house rules to three minute quarters, turn the game speed all the way up, and turn up CPU AI blocking. Our goal was simple: give the gamers the power to create the experience they really want.

Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Improved handling of URLs with parameters

You may have noticed that the Parameter Handling feature disappeared from the Site configuration > Settings section of Webmaster Tools. Fear not; you can now find it under its new name, URL Parameters! Along with renaming it, we refreshed and improved the feature. We hope you’ll find it even more useful. Configuration of URL parameters made in the old version of the feature will be automatically visible in the new version. Before we reveal all the cool things you can do with URL parameters now, let us remind you (or introduce, if you are new to this feature) of the purpose of this feature and when it may come in handy.

When to use
URL Parameters helps you control which URLs on your site should be crawled by Googlebot, depending on the parameters that appear in these URLs. This functionality provides a simple way to prevent crawling duplicate content on your site. Now, your site can be crawled more effectively, reducing your bandwidth usage and likely allowing more unique content from your site to be indexed. If you suspect that Googlebot's crawl coverage of the content on your site could be improved, using this feature can be a good idea. But with great power comes great responsibility! You should only use this feature if you're sure about the behavior of URL parameters on your site. Otherwise you might mistakenly prevent some URLs from being crawled, making their content no longer accessible to Googlebot.

Google+ Games Will Hit Facebook Where It Hurts

Google is close to launching a social game network that could make Facebook very, very nervous.
Perhaps the biggest difference between the two platforms will be cost.
According to multiple sources, Google will take less than a 30 percent cut of the revenues, which will break the industry standard created over the past few years by both Facebook and Apple.

ORM - Online Reputation Management - Isn't Child's Play

Managing your reputation isn’t what it used to be. It’s not about winning fistfights on the playground to protect your street credibility, or a business issuing carefully-worded media releases to spin stories about their latest foibles.
Now it’s all about online reputation management (ORM), a concept that has become an industry unto itself with all the accompanying accoutrements–experts, gurus, online tools–one expects from the modern internet.
ORM is “the practice of consistent research and analysis of one’s personal or professional, business or industry reputation as represented by the content across all types of online media” ( Wikipedia). You may have your own personal website and blog, Facebook and Twitter profiles, and professional site and writing all out there on the internet, and it all has a story to tell about you.
