M. Greg Smith Wins "Emerging Company CEO" Award

Accudata CEO M. Gregory Smith Wins Tech Titans’ Emerging Company CEO Award

DALLAS – Sept. 30, 2008 – The Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC), the largest technology trade organization in Texas, has awarded Accudata Technologies President and CEO M. Gregory Smith with its Tech Titans’ Emerging Company CEO Award. The award was presented Friday at the Tech Titans award gala at the Marriott Dallas/Plano at Legacy Town Center. The celebration recognized outstanding companies and individuals in the North Texas area who have made contributions to the technology industry during the past year.

Under Smith’s tenure in 2008, Accudata successfully landed a U.S. Patent for “System and Method for Processing Database Queries.” The patent gave Accudata the right to call itself America’s most accurate telephone number-validation service provider. In addition, Smith serves as president to recently launched Privus Mobile – a subsidiary of Accudata that offers real Caller ID service for cell phones.

“Since Greg joined Accudata Technologies as CEO in 2002, he’s done an amazing job of guiding Accudata along a path of success,” said Monica Martino, Accudata’s chief technology officer. “His hard work and dedication to this company have helped forge a strong foundation in customer relations and rapid expansion into new markets. In addition, Greg has played an integral role in launching Privus Mobile and its mobile Caller ID technology. He’s a tremendous leader, and we’re fortunate to have him.”

Accudata has been named to the annual Tech Titans/Fast 50 list for the past five-consecutive years, an honor that recognizes the telephone number-validation provider as one of the 50 fastest-growing technology companies in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, based on percentage revenue growth over five years. Since 2001, Accudata has experienced an average annual growth in revenues of approximately 47.6 percent. Its strongest year during the five-year period was in 2003, when Accudata increased its annual sales by 98.1 percent.

The CEO award and nomination was a first for both Smith and Accudata. Smith was selected over fellow finalists RipCode President and CEO Brendon Mills, Pinnacle Technical Resources Founder and CEO Nina Vaca and Tango Networks President and CEO Alastair Westgarth.

“I shared a finalist grouping with some of North Texas’ greatest leaders, and for me to receive the Emerging Company CEO honor, I’m both thrilled and humbled,” Smith said. “It’s easy to call someone a great leader when he/she has such amazing people working behind the scenes. Accudata has taken great strides in becoming the best, most reliable source in the telephone number-validation industry, and all of our employees have made a strong contribution to those efforts. Everyone at Accudata will share in this award.”

In addition to his 28 years in the telecommunications industry, Smith served as an officer in the U.S. Army Airborne Rangers, was a professor at the United States Military Academy at West Point and was a world champion wrestler in U.S. Military Wrestling. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from West Point, a Master of Business Administration from Long Island University and a Master of Science degree from Indiana University.
